API, American Paranormal Investigations, has gladly taken the Chapter project and is setting up the first event.

Ann Bender has asked Gary McKinny to Co-Lead this and set up the fun adventures in Northern California.  We will post all of our adventures here and welcome anybody to attend.

THe cool thing about this is API members will be present to train those that would like instruction.  And API members get to hang with fellow Nightwatchers and have fun - safely.

My goal by accepting this project is to decrease the people that venture into places without permission; by giving them free and cool locations to visit.  The minimun cost for a free venue will be a $5.00 donation to the WWF, potentially.

Todd - Is that ok with you?

Wish us luck!

There location will be the Ghost town of Bodie, CA possibly.  But we have so many to choose from.

This is so awesome!  I hope that other established groups that are already a part of Nightwatchers will follow your example and start a local chapter that will allow others in their area to get involved.  It is an AWESOME way to teach new investigators how to do things.  That is definitely the spirit of what Todd had in mind when he came up with this idea.  I am really looking forward to working with you on this.

As far as the donation goes, that is totally fine.  Each chapter can decide if they want to collect donations or dues, based on how they choose to run things.  Obviously, Todd is a huge supporter of WWF, so go for it!

so are you letting anyone off the street who wants to investigate come and do it for free or a small donation?

If so how is that working with having to complete backround checks and wavers signed on everone before they can investigate? Dont get me wrong I think it is awsome and a great idea i guess i am just confused on how it is working and would like info so we can look at doing it here.
thanks

Just like you're already doing it, Amy.  Some of the people investigating with you, in fact most of them, at the Feb. 6 investigation do not have background checks.  The background checks are only really important for any home investigations that you do.  When you do those, you will only be able to include your core group.  Ann is talking about the public locations similar to what we do as a group with Nightwatchers.

Awesome idea!  I've also stressed to locals who have expressed an interest that not submitting to the background check only excludes them from residential investigations, and most of them seem okay with that, especially if they are very green and not sure if they will run screaming at the first noise or cold spot they encounter! hehe  : )  Thanks for clarifying that, Callea.  I wasn't entirely positive I was telling people the right thing.

The more the merrier!

The only factor for us will be ages of participants, depending on the location.  California has a few funky laws and we are using our non-profit status for API as an umbrella to gain access.

Other locations, like the USS Hornet, welcomes the yonger crowd and we are setting up an event there.

We are also doing a ton of other things for the public.  Erin is now in charge of notifications, selecting the venues, and putting things together for me.  She is doing a terrific job too!

API was invited to have a booth at the California State Fair.  We included pamplets on Nightwatchers and are building an E-mail list for interested people.

After the first week, which is usually slow, we are at 5 full pages on interested peeps!  We have 2 more weeks to go at the fair.

This list will be instrumental in success in Nightwatchers events to come in NorCali as well as API fundraisers already scheduled.

Erin has been doing a great job handling the coordination for me.  I extend many thanks to her for handling the NorCali Chapter so I can take care of our API clients and new website.  There will be an Event Page, which will include all Nightwatchers events.

Hugs to you all!

P.S.  We were asked by Loyd Auerbach to put together a fundraiser specific to children.  That will be held on the Haunted Delta King Sept. 19th for $53.00, including lunch, from 10am-3pm.

Tickets are available on our website www.ap-investigations.com

Future Northen Cali Nightwatchers events can purchased there too!

(Red blush)  We are lucky to have a great team of dedicated people, solid structure, a responsible board, and fortunate to know great people like you!

Erin has been my right hand in the huge influx of public events and the Nothern California Nightwatchers Chapter.  Dave has begun a teaching program with the public.  I'm knee deep in client requests, the website, and other API odds and ends!

The team has stepped up to teach the begginers, so I'm not overwhelmed and can take care of the families.  All the thank's goes to each API member!

Hugs to you all!
