The owners have felt similar presences at different times. The presence of the same man, same watchful feeling. A guiding spirit, they called him, Old Man Simon. He is the original owner of the 260-year-old home. Mrs. Brewster has also been felt. A watchful spirit in the house that may be heard walking up the stairs at night. The spirits here are of a comfortable kind, not scary.

Behind the graveyard is a small path that leads to a cross-shaped clearing. The animals that make this clearing their home are thought to be possessed. The same is believed of the church. Allegedly a serial killer, Mike Ross, buried his victims behind the church and in blood wrote, "I love little girls." These women are thought to be the cause of the paranormal activity that exists there today.

When this house was relocated in 1981, workers claimed to see the spirit of a lady in a blue dress. Knocking and hammering was also heard during reconstruction. Benny, as the worker's nicknamed the playful spirit, seemed to want to help rebuild the home. Also, in 1982, police were called to the location when a child playing in the nearby park reported a ghostly child's face roaming around the establishment. It sits as a historical landmark today at the entrance of that very park.

Many apparitions have been reported in this famous church which has been featured on national television. Balls of light have been filmed moving about the grounds, sightings have been reported in the belltower, and it is also thought that the spirit of a former parishoner who was struck by lighting and died on the front steps still roams the grounds.

Many of the old mansions, now coverted into dorms, are said to be haunted. A mysterious woman in green roams the hall. Saddest of all is the young spirit of a boy, thought to be between eight and ten years old by those who have witnessed him. Rumor has it that he was locked in the attic during life, and now remains on the grounds looking for someone to play with. He is known to move and relocate items and can often be seen standing in the hallways.

Newtown only has one library and it's haunted. Booth's daughter, Mary Hawley, is said to still roam the grounds because the building was once her home. Her room is located on the top floor but is now locked down after a new addition. Things have quieted now since the shut down her room, but Mary's ghost most likely is still wandering the grounds.

Motorists and local police have reported seeing the spectre of a woman in white. She is thought to be the sad visage of a woman once jilted at the alter. So despondent over her lost love she drowned herself and now wanders the road, wet and desperate, looking for a ride. However, once your back is turned, she will mysteriously disappear.
