This facility was once home to a college for girls. It is claimed that the nuns began dabbling in Satanism and one by one, the girls were murdered. Inside the building, chilling screams are heard. At the top of the large staircase, there is an enormous cold spot. *Note: Location is burnt down-but the frame still remains.

-The circumstances of Poe's death remain a mystery. After a visit to Norfolk and Richmond for lectures, he was found in Baltimore in a pitiable condition and taken unconscious to a hospital where he died on Sunday, October 7, 1849. He was buried in the yard of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Apparently, he didn't stay long, since people still report seeing him waving from his front porch. It's also said a mysterious heavyset woman in grey haunts here, as well.

The Fort was used throughout history in guarding Baltimore, Maryland. Ask employees and local residents alike and they'll tell you have the no doubt that the Fort is haunted. People have seen a shadowy figure marching along the parapets, an evil spirit haunting the hallway leading to the bathroom, unearthly lights surrounding tourist guides, floating and moving furniture, and disembodied voices heard long after the Fort has been closed to visitors.

Quite a famous cemetery, as cemeteries go. Once featured on Sightings, many graves here date back to the 1700's. Edgar Allen Poe is also buried here, along side his wife, Virginia. Many ghosthunters have reported postive EMF readings as well as capturing EVP in this cemetery.

Located at 1900 North Point Road , in Baltimore County , Maryland. Take beltway E to exit 43 to route 20 follow for approximately 2 miles to Todd's Farm.
There are three stones in this property's cemetery which are worn completely smooth they are said to be stones of slaves that lived on the property but no one can verify that fact for sure. Sitting on 43 acres of land now purchased by the State of Maryland, the original house was built in 1664 and then burned to the ground by the British in 1812. Haunted by several spirits, a ghostly woman has been seen in the attic window with a candle as if awaiting the return of her loved one from war. Often, late at night, people have reported the faint images of slaves hanging from the trees.

Many people have captured the spirit of a male ghost in Civil War attire leaning against the steps to this lighthouse on camera. This land, once used as a Union hospital and prisoner of war camp, is the home to spirits of many such soldiers who still haunt the land as well as the spirit of one sailor who some think may have been lost at sea nearby.

It is said that a man was murdered on the back stairs outside the Opera House. The story goes that he was decapitated and he haunts the building and the grounds presumably looking for his missing head. It's well worth the trip as the city dates back before the "Civil War".

Founded in 1808 and known as the oldest independent Catholic college in the country, the spirit of Father John DuBois is sometimes seen walking the campus and there are several other spirits that have been reported in both the Brute and DuBois dorms. Also there are some rooms shut off to the public where one can hear strange and unexplicable noises.

The tavern's ghost, according to legend, is a Confederate soldier, wounded in the Gettysburg Battle. There have been various sightings of a woman in green as well as voices and items that jump from the walls and off of the back shelves.

-Black Rock Road, Poolesville.
No exact road found, but there's a golf course of the same name so, perhaps, it is around that area. It is said the spirits of two girls who passed in a car crash and drowned in a nearby lake are seen here. At night, as the urban legend goes, if you park your car, turn off your lights and then honk, they will rise from the water and come to your car. It's also said you can see the headlights of a car mysteriously glowing beneath the water.

Near the battle site Antietam, you will find a road that will lead you out of Boonsboro. This road, which takes you towards several Civil War battle sites, is the site of yet another haunting. Park your car at the base of this small incline and it is said that Civil War spirits will puch you up that hill, much as they did their cannons and artillery during the war. You can also hear laughter in the nearby woods.

Some people have even been known to be tossed from the windows by an unseen force.

At the only stoplight in town, you can turn left onto West Broadway and you will find the old firehouse. It also has an interesting history which the current owner enjoys telling. Sculptor, Jo Isrealson has renovated it into living quarters and a working studio which she has aptly named, Firehouse Studio. Ms. Isrealson's work can be seen here in the Firehouse Studio, at the Historic Oella Mill in Ellicott City, and at the Holt Center for the Arts in Baltimore. It's said to be haunted by a few firemen who never left. Doors will slam, visions can be seen and footsteps, of course, are heard.

It is said the nuns who once lived here dabbled in the black arts. Sacrifices of girls were made and you can still hear their tortured cries. Also, there is a definate cold spot recorded at the top of the stairs.

Haunted by two spirits, the man in the black suit and top hat has been reported by many residents. It is also said that the spirit of a young nurse appears here. Should she come to a resident, within a few days of seeing her they will pass away.

This house was rebuilt in 1927 as a replica of the Fritchie house destroyed by the repeated flooding of nearby Carroll Creek. Material salvaged when the house was torn down in 1868 was used to recreate the structure. According to legend, 95 year old Barbara Fritchie dauntlessly waved her Union flag as General Stonewall Jackson and his troops marched through town in 1862. The reputed events inspired John Greenleaf Whittier's poem `Barbara Fritchie`. The house contains original furnishings and artifacts and is said to be haunted by it's namesake. Guides have reported a rocking chair which rocks on its own, lights that turn on when no one is indoors, and indentations in Barbara's bed - as if she is sitting there.

Built in 1852 as a middle-class plantation home, historic Surratt House also served as a tavern and hostelry, a post office, and polling place during the crucial decade before the Civil War. During the war, it was a safehouse for the Confederate underground which flourished in Southern Maryland. It was the country home of Mary Surratt, first woman to be executed by the United States government after being found guilty of conspiring with John Wilkes Booth to assassinate Abraham Lincoln. Footsteps and the sounds of glasses clinking, as well as unearthly conversations, have been reported here.

Another urban legend? Back in the 1930s some say Satanic rituals were performed here and some years later it burned to the ground. A popular parking spot, a young couple could not get their car to start one night. The boyfriend left his girl in the car and went for help. When he came back her body was found swinging from a nearby tree. It's said you can still see here there, hanging from the same tree. It has also been rumored that a phantom hearse will appear and chase you from the grounds.

I was just on your site and i saw that Millers Church Rd in Hagerstown
Maryland didnt have a location on it. well i live about 5mins away from that
creepy road and its off Leitersburg Pike (route 60) its right by the
Par-Mar Truck bed Cap place (could be Pen-Mar regaurdless its right next to
it).
Also, The man whos Girlfriend was hanging by the old Oak Tree pulled his car
up to the tree right under her before he dissapeard, it was said that if you
drove your car up under the tree at night and turned your car off you can
hear her feet on the roof (scary as h***) but since then the state has put a
Gaurd Rail up around the bend which the tree is located and there is no way
to do it anymore without running over the rail. You can climb over the rail
and visit the mini Grave Yard which resembles that of Pet Cemetary.

Built in the 1800s as a Catholic School for girls, many spirits are seen here. The bright blue silhouette of a nun has been witnessed by the neighbors as well as lights that repeatedly go on and off on the condemned fourth floor even though there is no electricty there. Doors also open and close when they have been locked.

Take Reistertown Road to Mount Wilson Lane and go to end of road. It is now called The North Oakes Retirement Community. The State Hospital closed in 1981 and remained abandoned until 1990. Some say that as late as 1988 people could hear spirits yelling for help on the grounds.

The Union was once a Hotel and Tavern in the 1700's and is now a popular eatery. The owner and employees have reported several odd occurances and there is also a lady in a blue gown that is said to walk the grounds.

Jericho Bridge is found just north of Baltimore. From U. S. Route 1 north, go right on Jerusalem Road, 3 miles, and right on Jericho Road. This area once had a large number of mills and Jericho Bridge formed an important link between Baltimore and Northern Maryland. It's the last covered bridge standing in Harford County, built in the early 1800's. Legend has it that several lynchings occurred here and if you stop your car on the narrow bridge late at night, and look in your rear view mirrors, the image of a swinging body can be seen.
