Dietz House, Hudson.
6 Walnut Street.


Gould Dietz, the son of Jacob Dietz built this home in 1853 as the first dwelling on Dietz Street. In 1895, when Walnut Street was opened through to Church Street, the house was moved to its current location. Some say a woman named Mabel Parker haunts her former home and is heard on the 2nd floor.

Some have said that this cemetery was built on ancient Indian burial grounds, which makes it a malignant energy force. Known as one of the most haunted cemeteries in the country, photos have been taken here and many strange things have been report by locals, visitors and the newspapers in town.

Unlike many state capitol buildings which are inspired by Classical architecture, the New York capitol building takes its inspiration from the Hôtel de Ville in Paris. The building history is complicated, extending over a quarter of a century and involving the efforts of four architects. It's said to be haunted the spirit of a custodian who was killed in a fire many years ago.

This National Historic Landmark was built in 1680. Also known as the Billop House, the home features furnishings from the Colonial era in a setting of great natural beauty. The Conference House was the site of a revolutionary war era peace conference on September 11, 1776. Occasional apparitions of soldiers from this era are seen haunting the house and gardens.

Although the origin of one remains a mystery, the others are said to be a small girl killed in a fire, a priest, a musician who committed suicide and a gardener. This site has been used for milling since the 1600s. The current mill has been in place since 1751 and was used to grind grain for human consumption until after World War II. The mill was recently renovated by WMHO. It appears on both the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places. A woman in white can be seen pacing the top floor of the house with a candle.

The ghost of Belhurst Castle is that of a beautiful Italian opera singer, who fled from Spain with her lover who died with him when the retreated to their secret tunnel for a romantic tryst. Many people have seen her as a silent woman in white standing on the front lawn late at night.


-Boldt Castle, Alexandria Bay.


After the death of his wife in the 1900's, Mr. Boldt left the castle, which he had been constructing for her, never to return. Some say you can still see the woman in the uppermost windows of the castle.


-Roycroft Inn, East Aurora.


Restored recently after burning to the ground, there have been many reports of voices and figures in the main lobby and halls here.

This place must be getting dirty. After seeing a ghostly woman in the art center, cleaning crews now refuse to go in. In fact, many of the buildings here are said to be haunted.

This restaurant was once a carriage house owned and operated by Aaron Burr and is said to be rumored by many spirits including Burr's own beloved daughter, Theodosia Burr Alston, who vanished while heading to New York to visit her father. Both apparitions of Theodosia and others have been seen and she has been known to pop off the earrings of female patrons.

West Hall was once home to a hospital where a nurse was said to have died during a fire while attempting to save some children. This lady in white is often seen wandering the halls and is so well liked by the students and staff that signs have been posted reminding people to turn out the lights for the ghost before they leave a room.

This foreboding castle-like structure is located on Forest Avenue and dates back two centuries. The facilities have long since been shut down, but the mental incurables still haunt the place. Underground catacombs still contain equipment used in the unorthodox methods believed to make these poor souls right. Back in those days, mental patients were subject to unusual and cruel treatments. The spirits of these unfortunate souls have been seen roaming the dark and melancholy facilities.

One of the original caretakers of this lighthouse hung himself. Many activities haunt this place. Heavy doors, which normally require two people to close, have been known to shut and open on their own. Laughing and knocking is heard and windows placed up high, which normally require a tool to reach them, have been known to open by themselves.

Wells College has numerous stories but the most popular is of a nurse who tended to sick students during the influenza epidemic. The fourth floor which had been turned into an infirmary is still haunted by her spirit today and some students report seeing her standing over them as they sleep at night. On rare occasions she has even reached out with a cold hand to touch a forehead.

Home to quite a few spirits. The shoe room door will lock on its own and the temperature in there drops dramatically, a male spirit has been spotted in the practice and boiler rooms, as well as a man on stage at night that moves items around.

The owners of a Brooklyn restaurant that was once the headquarters of murderous gangster Salvatore "Sammy Bull" Gravano claim they've been spooked by ghosts and disembodied voices - maybe those of victims executed there. Danza's was once Tali's restaurant & lounge, a Gravano haunt where at least two men who co-owned the place with the infamous mob stoolie met a grisly end. Bullet holes still mark the restaurant's brick walls, but it is more ghostly matters that have the restaurant owners and staff spooked. They have reported seeing figures seated at tables or heading down to the basement, but the men then mysteriously vanish. They have also heard voices and the noise of a chainsaw, smelled foul odors and felt they were being watched. EVP's have been captured, orbs and tablecloths fluffing up and dropping back down on their own.
