-Emily's Covered Bridge, Stowe.
See website for information.
*Website
This covered bridge, built in 1844, was named after the ghost that haunts it. In the late 1800s, Emily Smith died here. Some say she was trampled by a team of horses; others say she killed herself by jumping off the bridge or perhaps by hanging herself from a roof beam. The most accepted scenario is that she died in an accident after being rejected at the altar by her fiancee. She rode after him in a buggy that overturned on the bridge. Although the cause of her death remains unknown, locals say there is no doubt about her ghost. In 1969, plans for a housing development were canceled when it was discovered that nobody wanted to live near the haunted bridge. Sometimes Emily manifests as a flickering white light, other times as a mysterious breeze that leaves one stunned or mesmerized.
Stowe is in north central Vermont, sixty miles east of Burlington. Take I-84 to the Colbyville and go north twenty-six miles on Highway 100. The bridge spans Gold Brook on Gold Brook Road a few miles outside of town. Gold Brick Road loops off Highway 100, north of town.

-The Shard Villa Mansion, West Salisbury.
Turn left (west) on Three Mile Bridge Road for a tour to Shard Villa. Keep straight for one mile through the intersection and keep on the left. On the right will be Shard Villa, a mansion built in 1872 by Columbus Smith, who had become wealthy handling American inheritance claims as a lawyer in England. Built of locally quarried stone, it is a prime example of the General Grant period of architecture. Shard Villa (named in honor of Smith's first successful inheritance case for Frances Mary Shard) was left "for the purpose of founding a good and comfortable home for good old Christian women not addicted to drink." It now has a retirement home attached to the back but the main home is kept in its original state. Some say Mr. Smith still haunts his mansion. Human shaped indentations appear in his bedroom on the bed, a silver tea service was once witnessed flying across the room, a baby can be heard crying, a lady in a red dress has appeared at the foot of resident's beds and employee's often hear their names being called.
