This is a tough one. I've seen the people interviewed about what happened and I have no doubt they believe that's what they saw but I have a hard time believing there is a real Mothman. It's a great story or urban legend but I'm not convinced. _________________ To a true believer no proof is required; to a non-believer no proof is sufficient |

i live in the area and I have not seen anything like it, but I have heard enough stories to consider it. My own step father saw something that resembles the mothman while working on the ohio river as a capt. _________________ It's a very rare person who is taken for what he truly is. |

What movie is this? I haven't heard of it. I believe the mothman legend originates from England, especially around Farnham. _________________

The Mothman we're talking about is from Point Pleasant, West Virginia. It showed up in November of 1966. It's supposed to be a large winged creature.

| I've heard from some people that live around Point Pleasant that the movie was sort off of base, it was hollywood after all. I did find a book at the Lucasville Library here in Scioto County that had alot of the original newspaper clippings and such. I'll try to find out the name of it and pass it on. |

I believe the people seen something, not sure what though, I think I would have to see it to believe it to. Just like the Jersey Devil.

| Have you guys read the book? The book is way better than the movie imo. They changed alot of things for the movie and left alot of stuff out. |

My favorite theories on the mothman are as follows:
1. Demon
2. Alien
3. Large crane that was mistaken for a monster
4. An extra-dimensional being
I prefer the first three.
Thanks Teeters for your input. I look forward to hearing the name and author of the book. _________________ Lift them up, never tear them down.

I don't know if it's the same book Teeters was talking about but the book the movie was based on was Mothman Prophecies by John Keel, it's one of my favorite books, I love John Keel I can't remember if they had the newspaper articles in there or not, but something they left out of the movie was the UFO light sightings that they were seeing there, I read that they didn't want to turn it into a UFO movie so they left that part out, but that is what originally drew Keel to the area. And I can't remember if the men in black type people he encountered were in the movie either, If I remember right one approached him in Point Pleasant and told him to quit writing about UFO's or something. I love his take on this type of phenomenon, he is a fascinating guy. |

a friend of mine (Todd M.) is an expert on Mothman. He's been studying the creature for years. He even has a band named after the entity.
the southern ohio band is on myspace; just look for music under Mothman _________________ Lift them up, never tear them down.

I acually realy believe there is a mothman phenomena, not just in the states, but it is recorded all over the world.
Once in sweeden a big bridge collapsed during the night and lost of cars drove of, and many reports said they saw something wich is very simmilar to the mothman reports.
However, this leeds me to belive that the mothman is part of the zooform phenomena, rather than being some sort of animal. _________________ Why not? Yeah. |
